"Aces High", is a watercolor painting I did back in the early 1980's; one of a series of World War 1 Aircraft done for a collector who fancied the old "Bi-Wing" type aircraft. One of the WW1 fighter planes he wanted a painting of was the SPAD, which was a famous French fighter plane of the type that was flown by the 'American' "Ace", Captain Eddie Rickenbacker. I painted this 'Americanized' SPAD (with the Red/White and Blue markings on the wheel hubs), having just shot down one of the big twin engine German GOTHA bombers - somewhere over the 'front lines'. This is an 8.5" x 11" glossy print signed and dated by Tom Daniel. It's printed on Hammermill Jet Print Ultra Gloss paper from a quality Epson inkjet printer. Beautifully retouched with vibrant color, but not "colorfast" (will fade near sunlight). |
