That year, Chevrolet introduced a simply 'styled' pick Up Truck that I used as a basis for one of my "Sketchpad" Articles for Rod&Custom Magazine; during the tenure of Bud Bryan as editor...some 30 years ago. Bud wanted to see some "non Ford" ideas for the Sketchpad . The simple (and elegant) lines of the '36 Chev. Pick Up caught my eye. I kept the body fairly 'stock'; and accented its pleasing lines with a two-tone "Red Wine" and "Pearl Black" paint scheme. The 'big' change - for that time and era - was my utilization of the rectangular headlights in place of the then universally used 'round' headlight shape. A new fabricated Front Bumper is shown, along with a chromed Grille Shell - with blacked out vertical grille bars . The 'tri-Spoke' mag wheels were the latest rage and I carried the Red Wine paint scheme onto the center section of the three spokes; and the side mount exhaust pipes as well. All in all, still looks good to me here in 2003! This is an 8.5" x 11" glossy print signed and dated by Tom Daniel. It's printed on Hammermill Jet Print Ultra Gloss paper from a quality Epson inkjet printer. Beautifully retouched with vibrant color, but not "colorfast" (will fade near sunlight). |
