It's early autumn in 1941 as narrow-gauge Colorado & Southern 2-8-0 # 70 drifts down the track beside Clear Creek in Colorado - Denver bound with a train consisting of a CONOCO tank car, three gondolas of gold ore, three box cars and a 'dinky' caboose. Old # 70 is proudly flying "White" flags behind her headlight indicating this to be an "extra" train movement. Rugged looking # 70 had the distinction of being the only oil burning locomotive on the C&S roster; and was built by the Baldwin Locomotive Works in December 1896. This is an 27.5" x 22" watercolor print signed and dated by Tom Daniel. Professionally printed on archival pH-neutral paper; suitable for framing. |
